While sitting on the bed next to my best friend, we were both about 8-years-old, looking for something fun to do. He was carving out a lampshade using a sharp box cutter knife. He was hoping to make an eagle’s face and then to project the silhouette onto the wall. It sounded so cool! We were both so focused on what he was doing, that if it were not for the stabbing pain and gushing blood from my leg, we would not have noticed that he had accidentally stabbed me. Just above my kneecap and straight through my denim jeans protruded the long, sharp object. He just kept saying over and over again, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry!” I only had one thought: please stop apologizing and pull it out of my leg.

The Taylor men’s soccer team moved to 2-5 in the Crossroads League with an important 2-1 win against Goshen last Saturday night. The win ties them with Saint Francis at six points in the Cross Division.

As I walk into the Well Gym every day, I observe those around me. I witness 85 - 90% of men weightlifting vs. the 10% of women. I view many women on the treadmill, biking, and participating in core exercises. It crosses my mind, “Why is it such a huge split from guys vs. girls as it relates to weightlifting?

The Taylor men’s Soccer team has lost every game this one except one. They picked up a win against the University of Saint Francis, followed by a loss against Grace College.

Taylor women’s soccer came up just short on Saturday, Oct. 3 against No. 14 Grace College. The Trojans surrendered an early goal that ended up being the difference in the 1-0 contest that dropped Taylor to 4-3 on the year and 3-3 within the Crossroads League.

Every year, Taylor students flood back to campus. The first few weeks are full of late-night runs to Wendy’s, wing events which are sponsored by wing dues, spontaneous trips to Target, fun dinners at Payne’s, brunches at the Bridge, and more. And then the semester shifts. The homework load gets heavier, the air gets a little chillier, and everyone’s bank accounts feel a little emptier than they did after summer.

JD’s song, by Boy Pablo is our song of the week at WTUR. Are you ever driving through the Indiana cornfields by yourself at sunset yearning for a sonic hug? Well jiminy cricket does Boy Pablo have the song for you. This song is simple in construction, two verses and a chorus. Boy Pablo uses a conversation about his dissatisfaction with a girl’s tiramisu she baked to express his larger dissatisfaction with their relationship. If that is not art then I don’t know what is.
