Thursday, Sept. 1 marked the fulfillment of a dream for film professors John and Kathy Bruner as Taylor University broke ground on the new Horne Academic Center. The building, which is slated to open in fall of 2024, will serve as the new headquarters for the university’s film and media program.
The Taylor Trojans’ women’s volleyball team have come into this coming year once again in dominant fashion. In 16 matches played, they have only lost three, falling to teams that have been ranked or are receiving votes to be ranked.

This past spring saw one of the most successful seasons for Taylor University athletics.
Over the last few months, I have been grasping at every grain of meaning and memory from these five years in Olson Hall. I am terrified of forgetting any detail of this sweet yet demanding season. It’s hard to leave my home, my work and my people in a landslide of change — I want to remember everything. But still some memories remain blurry and the inevitable end is barreling towards me. No matter what, there are a few things that will always be written in bold.
What a special year this has been!
It’s a curious thing to prepare to write our last column. For four years, The Echo has dominated a significant portion of our lives. For this entire year, our lives have rotated around the print schedule.
The class of 2022, graduating in less than one week, came to Taylor in 2018 as the largest freshman class in Taylor history.

Record-setting events and campus-wide celebrations marked a memorable year, as all clubs inside of Taylor Student Organization played their part.
The Taylor softball team had a rough past weekend in gameplay. They first played Bethel University, splitting the series and winning the first game. The next series was at home and senior day. Playing Marian University, they lost both ball games by scores of 6-3 and 9-1.
After getting embarrassed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in what was a nightmare ending to 2021 — the 26-11 loss cost the Colts a spot in the playoffs — Indianapolis has been busy beefing up their roster this offseason. While some moves have been splashier than others, will it be enough to put Indy back on the map?
As of 2022, Taylor has raised $3.2 million of annual and endowed scholarships, but they have strong hopes to reach $3.55 million by the end of the fiscal year.
Taylor Theatre will be performing “Annie” alongside young community members, conveying the importance of positivity in the midst of darkness.
