Lorne Oke resigns as head coach of Taylor golf

Oke leaves after three seasons

On June 3, the Taylor Trojans athletic department announced that they and Taylor men's and women's golf head coach Lorne Oke parted ways following the 2024-25 season.

Oke coached the Taylor men’s and women’s golf teams for three seasons after taking over from Cameron Andry, who now coaches at Ball State University.

Under his tenure, the men’s golf team finished as the Crossroads League runner-up twice and made the NAIA National Championships in the spring of 2023. In three years, they took first place in 10 events, with their most successful season coming in 2022-23, when they won seven events and finished 15th in the NAIA National Championships.

The women’s side reached the NAIA National Championships in three of three seasons, taking home the Crossroads League banner in 2025. The women’s team won 13 events through the three seasons, including six in 2024-25.

Oke had previous experience coaching in the Crossroads League with both Bethel University and Indiana Wesleyan.

Steve Toon was announced as the new head coach of Taylor golf on Aug. 5.
