The fall breeze and setting sun illuminated the sky, creating the ideal stage for Joel Ansett’s outdoor concert on Sept. 13 at the Bond Plaza. This semester, six journalism students have stepped into the live newsroom of WANE 15 (WANE-TV) to watch and learn how to create amidst the pressure of deadlines.The collaboration between WANE 15 and the Pulliam Journalism Center has been offered on demand the past few years, and is designed to help students gain real-world experience, Jenna Huff, news director for WANE 15, said.
Taylor’s Theatre Department displayed a story of conflict, emotion, mystery and the debate over death. “Will We Ever Be Well?” was a play written by Ris Bland, a senior majoring in musical theater, in collaboration with Tracy Manning, the assistant professor of theatre arts, managing and artistic director of theatre.
On Aug. 27, Metcalf Gallery welcomed the “Perm” Art Exhibition, a selection of Taylor University’s permanent art collection, showcasing the legacy of art created by Taylor women over the years.
The Taylor University Art department has seen an influx of new and experienced faces who are teaching this fall semester. It has a number of new professors teaching classes, including Landin Brown, Matthew Herrmann, Mark Masuoka and Michael Medlock. Additionally, longtime Taylor employee Beth Kaylor began a new position as the Art department program assistant this summer.

Students from all over the world will be engaging together through music, dance and food this fall at Taylor University. The intercultural events have created student leaders through conversations and culture showcased in different affinity groups on campus.
A brand-new dimension was added to the view inside of the Horne Academic Center at Taylor University when it installed one more wall in the building. Down the hall in the building is a gigantic sound stage. The dark room built to house film productions will now hold an opportunity for students to capture the virtual world on film.
Madelin Crawford, a rising junior studying film and media arts, discovered this aspect of learning when she spent time with the cast and crew of “The Chosen” television series at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, Texas.
“Welcome to ‘Thanks a Lot, Eve!’ the show for women and by women, and men can listen too.” Seniors Hannah Johnson and Tayler Owens, film and media majors, have started their show “Thanks a Lot, Eve!” this way almost every week since their freshman year.
As filming wraps up for the seniors' narrative projects, so does their college experience. The 2024 school year has been coming to a close, and seniors in the Taylor University film and media arts major put the finishing touches on their narrative film projects and cobbled together a reel highlighting their various projects over the years.
As the last music note resounded, a lifetime of memories flashed through their heads. Five seniors gave the final bow to an audience of supporters, and a sigh of relief escaped their lips as the year 2024 marked the end of a sweet song.
