Asian Street Market hosts street cooking cuisine

Asian Street Market, hosted by ASIA, took place from 6–9 p.m. outside of the LaRita Boren Campus Center. As the air thickened with the smell of spices, people began to line Boren Patio with plates and food tickets in hand.

Homecoming concert invites audience home

The finish of the 2024 Music, Theatre and Dance Collage Concert was met with a standing ovation as the Taylor Music, Theatre and Dance department showcased students’ hard work.

Joel Ansett performs folk-inspired acoustic set at outdoor concert

The fall breeze and setting sun illuminated the sky, creating the ideal stage for Joel Ansett’s outdoor concert on Sept. 13 at the Bond Plaza. Anna Purino, a sophomore on the IFC cabinet, highlighted the unique blend of nature and music at outdoor concerts and praised Ansett’s folk-inspired, acoustic performance.

‘Till We Have Faces’ novel undergoes adaptation into musical

A story of jealousy, possessive love and redemption finds new life, as Ethan Watts, a senior music composition major, and Reed Spencer, department co-chair, associate professor of music and director of choral ensembles, adapt C.S. Lewis novel “Till We Have Faces” into a musical.

Broadcasting class brings students to WANE 15

This semester, six journalism students have stepped into the live newsroom of WANE 15 (WANE-TV) to watch and learn how to create amidst the pressure of deadlines.The collaboration between WANE 15 and the Pulliam Journalism Center has been offered on demand the past few years, and is designed to help students gain real-world experience, Jenna Huff, news director for WANE 15, said.

Original play “Will We Ever Be Well?” comes alive

Taylor’s Theatre Department displayed a story of conflict, emotion, mystery and the debate over death. “Will We Ever Be Well?” was a play written by Ris Bland, a senior majoring in musical theater, in collaboration with Tracy Manning, the assistant professor of theatre arts, managing and artistic director of theatre.

Taylor Art Department welcomes new leadership and professors

The Taylor University Art department has seen an influx of new and experienced faces who are teaching this fall semester. It has a number of new professors teaching classes, including Landin Brown, Matthew Herrmann, Mark Masuoka and Michael Medlock. Additionally, longtime Taylor employee Beth Kaylor began a new position as the Art department program assistant this summer.

Horne installs LED wall with 3D effects

A brand-new dimension was added to the view inside of the Horne Academic Center at Taylor University when it installed one more wall in the building. Down the hall in the building is a gigantic sound stage. The dark room built to house film productions will now hold an opportunity for students to capture the virtual world on film.

Film and Media Arts senior awards show wraps up the year

As filming wraps up for the seniors' narrative projects, so does their college experience. The 2024 school year has been coming to a close, and seniors in the Taylor University film and media arts major put the finishing touches on their narrative film projects and cobbled together a reel highlighting their various projects over the years.
