Community events to kick off celebrating the holiday season

A look at local festivities and fun

As the Fall semester continues and finals approach, seasonal festivities are beginning. From country concerts to holiday markets, communities around Taylor are offering plenty of ways to celebrate the season. Here are a few events not to miss.

Bliss Barn Holiday Market

Bliss Barn kickstarts the holiday season with their annual holiday market. 

The event will include more than 50 vendors selling a variety of handmade and unique gifts. Food trucks, beverages and fun activities will be provided. Santa Claus will even pay the market a visit with live reindeer.

Kick off the holiday season and get a head start on Christmas shopping at the Bliss Barn Holiday Market on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find more information online at Bliss Barn’s Facebook page

Lee Greenwood Concert

Grammy-winning country artist Lee Greenwood hits the stage at the Gas City Performing Arts Center to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his hit song “God Bless the USA.” 

Greenwood, known for his patriotic anthems, has long been an icon in country music. His career, spanning more than six decades, includes performances for seven U.S. presidents and 33 charted singles.

The concert will take place at the Gas City Performing Arts Center on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available on their website and other major ticketing platforms.

Miracle on 34th Street

Holiday magic springs to life at the Muncie Civic Theatre with “Miracle on 34th Street.”

The cast will perform a musical adaptation of the Christmas classic. The show ties together beloved songs, festive sets and seasonal charm to capture the spirit of the season.

The show will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31, with Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available on the Muncie Civic Theatre’s website

The Children’s Nutcracker

The timeless Christmas classic “The Nutcracker” returns to the stage at the Muncie Ballet this holiday season. Audiences will follow Clara, the Nutcracker and friends on their journey through a world of magic and sweets, showcasing dancers of all ages.

The shows will take place at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. More information is available on Muncie Ballet’s website

Christmas in the Air, Finding Christmas

Gas City Performing Arts Center welcomes back “Christmas in the Air,” a Broadway-style holiday performance.

The show will feature the high kicks of Rockettes-style dancers, world-class singers and actors and an appearance from Santa Claus. The show will blend classic holiday music and dazzling dancers to create a family-friendly holiday experience.

The show will light up the stage at Gas City Performing Arts Center on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on their website.

Hubie Ashcraft New Year’s Eve Party

Gas City Performing Arts Center rings in 2026 with Hubie Ashcraft’s New Year’s Eve celebration. 

The Fort Wayne-based singer-songwriter is known for blending rock, Americana and country into energetic live performances.

The concert will take the stage at Gas City Performing Arts Center on Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on their website.
