Local communities celebrate the season

A glimpse into a selection of local events

As leaves change color and hot summer air turns crisp, fall and winter entail festive events in communities around Taylor. Productions, markets and more offer ways to embrace the season.

An Evening with the Indianapolis Ballet

Grace, artistry and skill take centerstage as the Indianapolis Ballet performs.

The professional ballet began in 2018 and is a professional resident company. The show will feature world-class dancers and offers the rare opportunity to experience their talent outside of Indianapolis. The show will be packed with breathtaking choreography, music and athleticism.

The show will take place on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Gas City Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available on the event center’s website.

A Very Merry Upland Christmas Market

Upland welcomes the holiday season annually with its Christmas market.

It will feature local artisans, businesses and bakers, offering a head start on Christmas shopping. Vendors will feature homemade decor, baked goods and festive goodies for shoppers.

Upland will welcome the market on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information is available onUpland Community Market’s Facebook page.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Muncie Civic Theatre features the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Based on the 1946 film of the same name, the show will capture the beloved story of George Bailey as he searches for an answer to whether his life really matters.

The age-old story will take on new life on the Mainstage at the Muncie Civic Theatre on Nov. 27 and will run until Dec. 20. Tickets are available on the theatre’s website.

Christmas on Main

Fairmount rings in the Christmas season with its holiday market, Christmas on Main.

Downtown Fairmount will pack in local vendors, live music, delicious treats and lively crowds. The market will feature a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, sleigh rides, holiday shopping and more.

The market will take place on Nov. 28 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Downtown Fairmount. Additional information is available on the Main Street Fairmount Facebook page.

As the holidays approach, communities surrounding Taylor offer a variety of opportunities to embrace the season. Students, community members and friends are invited to find a way to celebrate through local festivities and fun.
