Taylor purchases two new radio stations from legacy company

TU doubles airwave networks

In Nov. 2025, Taylor University purchased the radio stations “Your Country 99.2” WCJC Van Buren and “Star 106.9” WXXC Marion from the legacy radio network Hoosier AM/FM in Marion, Ind., a company that has lasted for over 75 years.

Neither purchased station has played music for weeks online, due to their former parent company owing over $600,000 in rent. Taylor bought the two stations for $435,000, according to reporter Lance Venta of radioInsight.

These stations represent Hoosier AM/FM's struggles in managing their different channels. Hoosier AM/FM filed with the Federal Trade Commission to silence two of their other Marion stations, one month after selling WCJC and WXXC to Taylor (860 WMRI and 1400 WBAT/105.5 W228DN).

The two new acquisitions for Taylor double their existing audio networks. 90.3 WCBL Fort Wayne has been a part of Taylor for decades as a holdover from the closing of the Fort Wayne campus. “Rhythm and Praise 94.1” WRNP Roanoke/Fort Wayne was bought in 2021. Rhythm and Praise began as a radio station playing classic rock before changing to gospel music after Taylor’s purchase.

Unlike Rhythm and Praise, neither of Taylor’s new stations has undergone any major changes, as WCJC’s website continues to advertise 24-hour country music, and Star 106.9's website continues to promote a pop-music flavor.

The new stations increase Taylor’s audio reach from northeast Indiana, western Ohio and southern Michigan to include areas closer to central Indiana as well.
