Eat a satisfying dinner so the hunger pains won't be much of a bother, or just go to bed.

Pick your portions Just because you are eating at a buffet does not mean you should have a buffet mentality. By avoiding that extra scoop of potatoes, you will feel better and full without overstuffing.

Chew gum, not food Keep flavor in your mouth, not your stomach. You can trick your mind into thinking you've eaten a sweet treat by chewing a stick of your favorite gum.

Let God do the sweetening Lunch cookies may just be an arm's reach from the stairs in the Dining Commons, but try taking a few steps over and grab some fruit for an afternoon delight.

Skip desserts, not meals Skip-a-Meal is twice a year, so don't avoid breakfast the rest of it. You won't regret the earlier alarm when your stomach isn't growling and your metabolism is working.

Hold the sugar You're half asleep, and so are your taste buds. Let the hero called coffee do its work, but it doesn't need a sidekick.

Balance is key "I think I'll have bread, a bagel and some croutons." Think again. Diversity is good in culture and in food choices. Be sure to mix your whole grains with fruits and your dairy with vegetables. Your taste buds and your body will thank you.

Pass on the pasta Don't get tangled in the spaghetti. Avoid the temptation and combine the pasta veggies in a salad instead. Try branching out. You might discover your new favorite food.

Well, Well, Well Whether you decide to run, lift weights or do some yoga on the mats, make a schedule to get to the Well (the fitness gym in the KSAC) a few times a week. You'll feel happier and more energized.

Use feet, not gas Socializing, gasoline, fresh air: three of the many blessings you will lose if you get in the habit of accepting rides to class. Don't do it.

Move the party outside Instead of watching Hollywood stars, play underneath real ones with ultimate frisbee and beach volleyball. You can gain new friends and lose a few calories.

Take a break, break a sweat Get the blood moving with a jumping jack or two when the zzz's set in. You will serve two purposes at once by getting a break from studying and staying healthy. It will also keep you from snacking.

Find an accountability partner Two are better than one. Find a friend whose encouragement isn't lacking when your motivation is. It is easier to keep going if you have someone to help keep you on track and make things fun.

Don't get discouraged When tests pile up, all-nighters build and friends are knocking on your door, don't lose your drive to stay healthy. By taking the time to care for yourself (and sleep), you'll be able to tackle those items on your ever-growing to-do list.
