Croc Thoughts
During a counseling appointment, I discovered something about myself: my deepest desire is to be fully known and yet still loved. That “and yet still” says a lot about how I view myself. I wonder if it resonates with some of you.

In this final column of the semester, I would like to return to where we began. In the first Croc Thoughts column of this school year, we explored the new school year as an opportunity to create new rhythms.
Let’s see if this conversation sounds familiar.
Do we love all of God? I think for most of us the answer is an obvious “yes,” but I have noticed in myself and around campus a tendency to love most of God except for one part: his judgment.
How do you picture God?
Each of the past two summers, I worked at my high school. As the self-titled “Campus Beautification Assistant,” I mowed, cleared brush, painted, installed flooring and did various other jobs. Working with my hands was a healthy break from the classroom, and it challenged me to think about embodiment.
Welcome back to school, everyone. It’s a pleasure to be back in The Echo after this summer’s hiatus. Writing this column is a joy, and I thank my editors and you, the reader, for allowing me to write. This column is intended to start dialogue rather than be a soapbox. In pursuit of that end, there will be a WTUR radio show of the same name every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. I hope that what you read in the paper is merely the beginning of larger conversations within our community.
