While many tend to think the conclusion of an academic year means farewell to students, the same holds true for some university faculty and staff. Just as dorms are cleared, some will find themselves cleaning out their desks for the final time. At the conclusion of the 2023 school year, three faculty and six staff will be retiring, according to Human Resources Manager Abbey Boyd.

Retiring faculty members include Charlie Brainer, Jeff Cramer and Bill Heth.

Staff who are retiring include Trudy Owen, Jim Garringer, Tim Nace, Ron Sutherland, Ron Korfmacher and Lisa Royal.

The Echo would like to thank each of these individuals for dedicating both their time and respective talents to the university.

A special thank-you goes out to Jim Garringer, who provided the newspaper with numerous photos over the years.

We also greatly appreciate the assistance of Ron Sutherland during his career, as Mr. Sutherland provided an abundance of information on happenings around campus.

The Echo wishes all retiring faculty and staff success in their next stages of life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
