Los Amores brings the spice to Marion

Los Amores is a hidden treasure in the truest sense of the phrase. Tucked in the lower level of an office space in Marion, the restaurant offers authentic Mexican food that surpasses many of its competitors in taste and price.

The new restaurant, which just opened in May, is designed with spacious areas for seating. A metallic, modern design highlights the open kitchen and the tasteful decor of the restaurant.

Decorating the wall and the menus, the phrase, “Love God. Love People. Love Food.” communicates Los Amores’ core values. These priorities are also communicated in the way that the staff welcomes guests and prepares exquisitely flavorful food.

The menu, while fairly small, holds a handful of familiar options for everyone. The guacamole is fresh, creamy and worth the splurge. The authentic horchata drink is almost a dessert, full of cinnamon-y sweetness. There are a variety of fajita meals, quesadillas, tacos, tortas and burritos offered, with gluten-free and vegetarian options available.

The prices are perfect for a college student’s budget with tacos starting at $1.99, quesadillas ranging from $1.25–$7.25, burritos between $3.99–$7.25, and a multitude of yummy appetizers like queso, pico de gallo and bean dip for $3.50 at the most. The portions are generous and worth every penny.

While the 23 minute drive from Taylor may seem excessive, the authenticity and flavor of Los Amores food is worth the hike. If students work or participate in a ministry in Marion, Los Amores is a great option for dinner or lunch!

Los Amores is located at 428 S Washington St, Marion, Indiana. It is open Monday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.

Overall Pros: The staff are uber friendly, the food is rich and delicious and there are options for those on gluten-free or vegetarian diets.

Overall Cons: Los Amores is hard to locate, with minimal signage about how to get into the restaurant. It is a little far from campus for a quick dinner, but would be ideal for a Saturday lunch or a night out in Marion.
