New season and new memories

By Laura Koenig | Echo

Located in the heart of Indianapolis, the Indiana Repertory Theatre provides shows for all ages and will continue to do so throughout the 2016-17 season.

Opening their season with "The Three Musketeers," adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, the Indiana Repertory Theatre plans to wow their audience by starting with this daring and swashbuckling adventure.

Indiana Repertory Theatre staff and artists hold a pre-show chat 45 minutes before every show for anyone to attend. Post-show discussions and other special events are also available after selected plays.

"Finding Home: Indiana at 200" will follow "The Three Musketeers." This production celebrates the bicentennial of Indiana and captures the viewpoints of multiple Indiana writers who collaborated to write the play.

This professional not-for-profit theatre first performed in 1971. Since then, it has become a token and tradition to many in the community, including our Taylor community.

"When I was little, I used to see 'The Christmas Carol' every year with my grandparents," senior Lauren Moreland said.

The Indiana Repertory Theatre is not only a tradition but also a place for college students to enjoy a local production.

Reflecting on the production she attended last spring, senior Jessica Schulte said, "Indiana Repertory Theatre is a professional company with a wonderful reputation. They do a lot of education and community outreach, providing valuable artistic opportunities to Indianapolis and surrounding areas."

"The Three Musketeers" plays September 20 through October 15. "Finding Home: Indiana at 200" plays October 18 through November 13. Tickets start at $25.
